Law of Definite proportion :

Statement

The compound can be obtained from anywhere but the ratio of components present in it remains unchanged / same.

Means it does not depend on the method of preparation or source from where it is obtained.

*This law was given by proust*

EXAMPLE

WATER obtained from any source always contains the same ratio of H and O molecules.

H : O

2 : 16

1 : 8

The source may be»»

  • SEA water
  • Ganga Jal
  • Rain water
  • Tap water

Another example can be taken as that of Ammonia {NH3}

It always contains 1 molecule of Nitrogen and 3 molecules of Hydrogen always combined in a fixed ratio.

THEIR MASS RATIO ALSO REMAINS THE SAME!!
