Answer:

French chemist Joseph Proust proposed the law of definite composition or proportions based on his experiments conducted between 1798 and 1804 on the elemental composition of water and copper carbonate. In 1806, Proust summarized his observations in what is now called Proust's Law.

Solution:-

It was proposed by Proust and verified by Strass and Richards

Definitions:-

  • When two elements combine to form a compound they combine in definite proportion
  • A chemical compound has same composition by whatever method it was prepared
  • Ratio of constituent element by mass is always constant

Examples:-

c + o_{2} - - &gt; co_{2} </strong><strong>

co + \frac{1}{2} o_{2} - - &gt; co_{2} </strong><strong>

 caco \: _{3} - - &gt; cao + co_{2} </strong><strong>
