Answer:

Law of equipartition of energy is  \frac{3kT^{} }{2} = \frac{mv_{x} ^{2} }{2} + \frac{mv_{y} ^{2} }{2} +\frac{mv_{z} ^{2} }{2}

Explanation:

We know that in real life gaseous molecule are performing the 3 - dimensional motion.

According to the kinetic theory of molecular gaseous we know that the total energy of the gaseous molecule is \frac{3kT}{2} which is equals to the \frac{mv^{2} }{2} where v^{2} is the resultant velocity of the all the x, y and z-axis.

Law of equipartition states that the energy distribution along all the 3 axis is equal and summition of all the energy across x,y,and z axis gives resultant.

\frac{3kT^{} }{2} = \frac{mv_{x} ^{2} }{2} + \frac{mv_{y} ^{2} }{2} +\frac{mv_{z} ^{2} }{2}
