there are two laws of refraction.

1)the incident ray,the refracted ray and the normal to the surface saprataly the two media all are lie in the same plane.

2)the ratio of sine of incidence and sine of refracted angle is constant for pair of two media.

Sin I/ Sin r= constant

where constant is known as refractive index .
