Explanation:

LAW OF REFRACTION:

--------------This law given by Dutch Scientist WILLEBROD SNELL.-----------------

i). The incident ray, the refracted Ray and the normal at the point of incident all lie in the same plane.

ii). The ratio of the Sine of the angle of incident i to the sin of the angle of refraction r is constant for the pair of given media.

MATHEMATICALLY IT BE:

Sin i/Sin r. = Constant 1u2.

NOTE:

The constant is called the refractive index of the second medium with respect to the first medium.

REFRACTIVE INDEX:

The refractive index of second medium with respect to the first medium is define as the ratio of sine of the angle of incident in the first medium to the sign of the angle of refraction in the second medium .
