according to newton first low of motion when the 9bjwhen the object is in motion it continues in motion or when the object is in rest it still remains in rest unless any external force is not applied on it . because it depends on the inertia of an object.when carpet is beaten then that carpet come suddenly in motion but these dust particals tend to remain in its previous position

Newton's first law of motion :-
an object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force ...
why this law is called Law of Inertia :-
it is because of that there is a neutral tendency of objects to keep on doing what they are doing .all object resists change In their state of motion .in the absence of an unbalanced force ,an object with motion will maintain this state of motion ...
when carpet is beaten with a stick dust come out of it ...
dust particles Where's at rest on the carpet. however when you beat the carpet ,you are forcing the dust to move along with a carpet. due to dost having inertia, it doesn't move, or rather , it is resists motion. this is why dust comes out of a carpet when it beaten with a stick...
