According to the Newton's first law, An object at rest or motion continues to be in it's state of rest or motion until and unless an external force is applied on it. This is also known as the law of inertia
For example, a stationary ball will not move until you apply some force on it.
Likewise, a ball that is rolling will continue to roll until some force is applied.
