state Newton's first law of motion? Why is it called as Law of Inertia? Define inertia? On what factor does inertia depends? Does inertia place any role for an object moving on a frictionless surface with a uniform speed? Justify your answer which of the following has more inertia 10 kg cotton ball or 5 kg iron black

newton's first law of motion states that an object in uniform motion or rest will be in uniform motion or rest untill or unless some external unbalanced force is applied to the object.

It is also called law of inertia as this phenomena is known as inertia i.e. the inability of the object to change its state of uniform motion, rest or direction on its own.

Inertia depends directly on the mass of the object..the more heavier the object is more will be the inertia and vice and versa.

Yes, inertia will play a role in a frictionless surface and on the object moving with uniform speed by keeping the object in that uniform motion till the time some external force is applied...But the presence of inertia can only be seen when some external unbalanced force.

10kg cotton ball will have more inertia as compared to 5kg of iron.
