"EVERY OBJECT CONTINUE TO BE IN A STATE OF REST OR OF UNIFORM MOTION ALONG A GIVEN DIRECTION UNLESS ACTED UPON BY AN EXTERNAL FORCE". This law is known as the law of inertia bcoz this law is based on mass . Inertia in general means the mass of the body on which a force is acting . (inertia=mass)
