Newton's second law of motion :-
The rate of change of momentum is directly proportional to the applied force and takes place in the direction in which the force acts.
↦ Force ∝ Change in momentum/ Time taken
↦ F ∝ mv - mu/t
↦ F ∝ m(v - u)/t
↦ F ∝ ma
As we know that the formula of acceleration is :-
- a = v - u/t
↦ F = k × m × a
Where k is constant,
↦ k = 1 N/ 1 kg × 1 m/s²
↦ k = 1
↦ F = 1 × m × a
↦ F = ma
Or,
↦ Force = Mass × Acceleration
Examples of Newton's second law of motion :-
- Catching a cricket ball.
- The case of a high jumper.
- The use of seat belts in cars.
