the rate of change of momentum is directly proportional to the external force applied on it and the change in momentum takes place in the direction of force.
change in momentum=mv-mu/t
f=m(v-u)/t
f=ma

Law 2:-
It is quantitative law which tell us-how much quantity of force is required for,
(i)To come to rest when in motion.
(ii)To set in motion when in rest.

Statement of the law:-
"Force is the product of mass and acceleration of the body"

F= m x a.

The relationship between force and acceleration:- 
The acceleration of an object depends directly upon the net force acting upon the object, and inversely upon the mass of the object. As the force acting upon an object is increased, the acceleration of the object is increased. As the mass of an object is increased, the acceleration of the object is decreased.
