the metallic bonds is very strong because when it is put into the water it does not dissolve but ionic compounds dissolve in water because their bond is not more strong than metallic Bond

ionic compounds are though very hard but dissolve in aqueous solution they have very hard force of attraction that is why they are hard in solid state while metallic solid do not dissolve in water
