Solids are rigid as their molecules have very little space among them. So, these cannot move freely like in liquid state. ... The things which are rigid are known as solid as they resist to the structural change which are change in shape or volume.

Solid state is most rigid becoz the particles prssent are very closly packed and interparticle forces are quite strong.
