The current passing through the metallic wire is directly proportional to the current flowing through it provided its temperature remains the same.....This is known as Ohm's law.

Ohms law states that the current flowing through a conductor is directly proportional to the potential difference applied across it's end provided that the physical and the temperature of the conductor remain the same.
