It is a relationship between current (I) potential difference (V) and resistance (R) in an electric circuit.

It was developed by German physicist George Simon ohm in 1826

According to this law ,

"At constant temperature the current flowing through a conductor is directly proportional to the potential difference across the conductor.

S.I. Unit of resistance =Ohm

From ohm's law

R=V/I

If V=1 volt

I=1 ampere

then,R=1 volt/1 ampere

or ,1ohm=1 volt/1 ampere

Plot V on x -axis and I on y-axis when all the points are joined then ,a straight line passing through the origin is obtained.

This show that current passing through the resistance is directly proportional to the (pd) V across it.

Hence,the slope of this straight line plot is related to the resistance by the relationship.

Resistance (R)=1/slope of the straight line
