diaphragm-The diaphragm separates the thoracic cavity, containing the heart and lungs, from the abdominal cavity and performs an important function in respiration: as the diaphragmcontracts, the volume of the thoracic cavity increases and air is drawn into the lungs.

pleural fluid-acts as a lubricant and allows the pleurae to slide effortlessly against each other during respiratory movements.

mitochondria-to produce the energy currency of the cell, ATP (i.e., phosphorylation of ADP), through respiration, and to regulate cellular metabolism.

ciliated epithelium-move back and forth to help move particles out of our body. We find ciliated epithelial tissue in our respiratory tract and in the fallopian tubes of women.
