- Within the elastic limit, stress on body is directly proportional to strain produced in it.
Stress = E × Strain
Where, E = Modulus of elasticity
● Limitations of Hooke's law -
- It is applicable to relatively small deformations only.
- Deformation should be in elastic limit to apply Hooke's law.
- When a body is streched pass its elastic limit is gets permanently deformed.
