State one relevant reason for each of the following:
(i) Graphite anode is preferred to platinum in the electrolysis of molten lead
bromide.
(ii) Soda lime is preferred to sodium hydroxide in the laboratory preparation
of methane.​

i) this is because graphite anode is unaffected by the reactive bromine vapours.

ii) this is because soda lime doesn't is not deliquescent and doesn't attack glass.

I) Graphite electrodes is preferred in the electrolysis of molten lead bromide because the graphite electrode is an inert electrode and it does not react with bromine.

Whereas the platinum electron reacts with bromine.

II) Soda lime is preferred to sodium hydroxide because sodium hydroxide absorbs water from the atmosphere and makes the mixture unstable.

Whereas the soda lime absorbs less water and the mixture is more stable.
