the difference between
smooth endoplasmic reticulum and rough endoplasmic reticulum
due to structure:-
1) rough endoplasmic reticulum has ribosomes on them
1) but smooth endoplasmic reticulum does not have ribosomes on them
due to functions:-
1) rough endoplasmic reticulum is used in synthesis of proteins
1) smooth endoplasmic reticulum is used in synthesis of lipids
2) smooth endoplasmic reticulum in vertebrate liver cells, helps in detoxification of toxic chemicals.
2) rough endoplasmic reticulum does not help in the detoxification of toxic chemicals in vertebrate liver cells.
(liver cells are called hepatocytes)
