hello friend

here is your answer

the difference between

smooth endoplasmic reticulum and rough endoplasmic reticulum

due to structure:-

1) rough endoplasmic reticulum has ribosomes on them

1) but smooth endoplasmic reticulum does not have ribosomes on them

due to functions:-

1) rough endoplasmic reticulum is used in synthesis of proteins

1) smooth endoplasmic reticulum is used to synthesise lipids

2) smooth endoplasmic reticulum in vertebrate cells , helps in detoxification of toxic chemicals.

2) but rough endoplasmic reticulum does not help in the detoxification of toxic chemicals in vertebrate liver cells.

(liver cells are called hepatocytes)

hope it helps you
