So while an IAS starts off aged 24–28 years as an Asst Secretary after training, a state level psc entrant gets to the same post after 14–18 years service, say around the age of 37–42 years.

And while IAS officers are automatically promoted to next rank in 24 months, the osc promotee takes 8–9 years for next promotion and retires after one or at the most two more promotions.
