Hello dear friend!

Here's your answer :

✔✔✔✔✔✔✔✔✔✔✔✔✔

The first statement is correct because it consists of right words. It is written in Past tense and the subject and the verb both agree with each other. Whereas in the second sentence, the subject and verb do not agree with each other. It's not even properly written in Past Perfect tense.
