Answer:

Rest means when no motion takes place.

But

Motion means when no rest take place.

Example :- Running in a ground is a Motion but after running you will stop and comes in the position of rest it means you are in a state of Rest.

Proper definition:-

Rest:- When object does not change its place with respect to time then it is said to be in rest.

Motion:- When object changes its position with respect to time, it is known as motion.
