SNELL'S LAW: The ratio of the sine of the angle of incidence to the ratio of sine of angle of refraction is a constant for a light of a specified colour and for the specified pair of media.

MATHEMATICALLY,

 \frac{sin i}{sin r}=  constant

ABSOLUTE REFRACTIVE INDEX:
n_{m} =  \frac{c}{v}

where  n_{m} is the refractive index of the medium, c is the speed of light in vacuum and v is the speed of light in the medium.

Hope it helped,

Answer:

Mathematically it can be expressed asn = sin i/sin r where 'n' is constant which is called refractive index.

Explanation:

Snell's law : The ratio sine of angle of prevalence to the sine of angle of refraction is a regular for a given coloration of mild and for a given pair of media. Sin i/ Sin r = constant. This constant is the refractive index of the second medium w.r.t the primary.

The Snell's law of refraction states that: The incident ray, the refracted ray and the regular on the point of prevalence, all lie within the identical plane. The ratio of the sine of the angle of occurrence to the sine of the perspective of refraction is regular for the pair of the given media.

Absolute refractive index of a medium is described because the ratio of the rate of light in vacuum to the velocity of mild in the medium. If c is the rate of mild in vacuum and v inside the medium, then n = c/v. The relative refractive index among a couple of media is the ratio in their absolute refractive indices.

From the equation n = c/v, we recognise that the refractive index of a medium is inversely proportional to the speed of mild in that medium. consequently, light travels quicker in water.
