ANSWER

Newton's first law states that an object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by a force.

This law is also known as the Law of Inertia.

Example

  • Blood rushes from your head to your feet on a descending elevator.
  • The body automatically moves forward when the car is suddenly stopped.
  • A ball doesn't roll unless a force moves it.

Wearing a seat belt in a car while driving is an example of Newton's 1st law of motion. If an accident occurs, or if brakes are applied to the car suddenly, the body will tend to continue its inertia and move forward, probably proving fatal. Newton's first law of motion states that an object at rest remains at rest and an object in motion remains in motion with the same velocity unless acted upon by what we call an unbalanced force.
