State the advantage of parallel circuit over series circuit

In parallel circuit, each appliance gets operates independently but in series, all appliances operate simultaneously so none of them can be operated independently so if one appliance is switched off all other appliances will not operate.
In parallel circuit, each appliance gets connected to its voltage rating for its normal working but in series, the voltage of the source gets divided in all the appliances in the ratio of their resistances, so each appliance does not operate at it's rated voltage.
