according to Archimedes  the  buoyant force exerted to the object on a liquid is equal to the weight of the liquid it displaces.

Archimedesprinciple: It states that when a body is partially or fully immersed in a fluid, the upward buoyant force exerted on a body is equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by it.

The buoyant force always acts upward.
