Answer: Atomicity is the number of atoms present in the molecule of an element.

a) Oxygen exists as O_2 and thus 1 molecule of oxygen contains 2 atoms , therefore atomicity is 2.

b) Argon exists as Ar and thus 1 molecule of argon contains 1 atom , therefore atomicity is 1.

c) Phosphorous exists as P_4 and thus 1 molecule of phosphorous contains 4 atoms , therefore atomicity is 4.

d) Sulphur exists as S_8 and thus 1 molecule of sulphur contains 8 atoms , therefore atomicity is 8.
