The following changes have taken place in the Institution of marriage:

1) The main aims and motives of marriage have changed. Sex, what used to be a secondary aim has now become a primary aim of marriage instead of Dharma.

2) increase in the number of inter-caste and inter-religion marriages, which weren't prevalent in older times.

3) selection of life partners by the children has also increased and parents have now less say in the matter of selection of a suitable partner for their child.

4) the evil of child marriage has almost eradicated from our society and have become an offence in the eyes of law.
