  • Baking soda is used as antacid in medicine to remove acidity of stomach . Being alkaline, Baking soda neutralizes the excess acid present in the stomach and relieves indigestion. baking powder is a mixture of tartaric acid ( mild edible acid) and baking soda. when baking powder mixes with water then baking soda reacts with tartaric acid to evolve CO2 gas which traps in wet dough and slowly bread will rise and become soft and spongy. since baking soda gives on heating co2, it is used as constituent of baking powder.
  • i) It is weakly alkaline in nature and neutralizes acid (HCI) formed in the stomach. NaHCOg + HCI⇒ NaCI + H20 + CO2.
  • ii) It evolves NO2 in the form of bubbles when.cake is made by baking. As a result, the cake becomes porous as well as fluffy. 2NaHCO3 → Na2CO3 + H20 + CO2
  • See when co2 releses it will relif give when bee stung area and it is netrized It neutralizes the acidic liquid injected by the bee.
