A party that secures at least 6% of

total votes in an election to the

Legislative Assembly of a state and

wins at least 2 seats is recognized as

a state party.

state party : it is found in a paryicular state and contests elections in that particular state.

National party : a party which is found in more than one state and can contest in any of those states.
