Pandita Ramabai was another social reformer and activist in India who served widows and helpless women of India. She spoke against the practice of child marriage and the terrible constraits on the lives of child widows. In 1887, Ramabai Association was founded, which worked for the downtrodden in society. She also established the Mukti mission in 1889 as a refuge for young widows who were abused by their families.
