ANSWER

DALTON ATOMIC THEORY

 Dalton's Atomic Theory

1) All matter is made of atoms. Atoms are indivisible and indestructible.

2) All atoms of a given element are identical in mass and properties

3) Compounds are formed by a combination of two or more different kinds of atoms.

4) A chemical reaction is a rearrangement of atoms.

DRAWBACKS OF DALTON ATOMIC THEORY

The indivisibility of an atom was proved wrong:

an atom can be further subdivided into protons, neutrons and electrons.

However an atom is the smallest particle that takes part in chemical reactions.

According to Dalton, the atoms of same element are similar in all respects

The main points of Dalton's atomic theory are: Elements are made of extremely small particles called atoms. Atoms of a given element are identical in size, mass and other properties; atoms of different elements differ in size, mass and other properties. Atoms cannot be subdivided, created or destroyed.

IT'S DRAWBACKS:

1)It could not explain the structure of atom.

2) It could not explain the concept of isotopes and isobars.

3) It could not explain how atoms of the different elements are different.

4) It could not explain law of gaseous volumes.

5) It could not explain Berzelius hypothesis.

6) It failed to explain the cause of chemical combinations.

7) It failed to distinction between ultimate particles of an element and a compound.

8) It failed to explain the nature of binding forces between the atoms in a molecule.
