Erosion and Weathering
Definition
Erosion is displacement of solids (soil, mud, rock and other particles) usually by the agents of currents such as, wind, water, or ice
Weathering is the decomposition of rocks, soils and their minerals through direct contact with the Earth's atmosphere.
Types
5 - Water,Ice,Wind,Gravity and Thermal...(erosion)
3 - Physical, Chemical and Biological
(Weathering)
Movement
Movement of eroded material occurs.(erosion)
Movement of weathered material does not occur. (Weathering)
External causes
Wind, water, ice, humans etc. (Erosion)
Atmospheric conditions like air, pressure etc.(weathering)
Gardens/Fields
Breakdown of the top soil causes change in health and growth of plants. (Erosion)
Wind, Rain, Water from garden hoses, freezing temperatures, etc.(weathering)........

Weathering is the breaking up of rocks on the earth's surface. They are mainly caused by elements of weather like temperature changes, frost action or due to chemical changes.

Weathering is the breaking up of rocks on the earth's surface. They are mainly caused by elements of weather like temperature changes, frost action or due to chemical changes. Erosion is the weathering down and carrying away of rocks by the action of running water, glaciers, sea waves or wind. The eroded materials are transported and deposited by these agents of erosion.
