An electric heater uses nichrome wire whereas fuses are mostly made up of copper, silver, tin or zinc wire. Nichrome has a high melting temperature of about 1400 degrees Celsius which is required to produce heat without melting. Whereas Fuses are designed to have a low melting point which is required so as to open the circuit in the event of excessive current flow.
