State the differences between an electromagnet and a permanent magnet.

Electromagnet

  • The magnetic properties are displayed when current is passed through it .

  • Removal of magnetic properties is temporary .

  • It is usually made of soft materials .

Permanent magnet

  • Magnetic properties exist when the material is magnetized .

  • Once magnetic properties is lost, it becomes useless .

  • It is usually made of hard materials .
