in series there will be only one path of way to pass the electricity.as in series if few bulbs are arranged in series when one bulb damaged then the remaining bulbs in one side will not get current.
But in parallel there are more than 1 path so if one bulb damaged then the remaining bulbs will not switched off they get current in another path.
