It is of two types :-

\large\underline{\underline{\sf 1.\:Simple\:Leaf}}

A leaf is said to be simple, when its lamina is entire or may be incised to any depth , but not up to the midrib or petiole .

Example :- Peepal , Mango , Radish .

\large\underline{\underline{\sf 2.\: Compound\:Leaf:}}

A leaf in which the leaf blade is incised up to the midrib or petiole , thus dividing it into several small parts , i.e leaflets.

Compound leaf is of two types :-

  • Pinnately Compound leaf -

In this types of leaf , leaf blade is incised up to the mid rib and mid rib is known as rachis . Leaflets are arranged on both side of rachis .

Example :- Neem.

  • Palmately Compound Leaf :-

In this type incision of leaf are directed from leaf margins to apex of the petiole and all leaflets are attached at the tip of the petiole .

Rachis is absent in palmately Compound Leaf.

Example :- Silkcotton.
