ARTERIES:- 1) each artery consists of three layers . outermost layer is made up of collagen fibres ,smooth muscles,elastic muscle.
2)arteries receive blood directly from heart and larger arteries branch repeatedly into smaller arteries and then to arterioles.
3)walls of arteries are thick and elastic.
4) arteries which are further away from heart have a thick layer of smooth muscles.
VEINS:-1)they also have a three layer of tissues.
2) veins pour the deoxy-genated blood into the heart.
3) in certain parts(arms and lungs) the contractions of skeletal muscles around the veins help to push the blood towards heart.
4) they have valves which prevent back flow of blood.
