The food from the stomach enters the small intestine in an acidic pH. The pancreatic juices can only act on the food if it is alkaline. The function of the bile juice is to make the food alkaline. It also breaks down the fat molecules.

The pancreatic juices are trypsin which is a protein-breaker and lipase which converts the fat globules into glycerol.

The walls of the small intestine also produce a juice that breaks fat down even more.
