Function of parenchyma

1. Storage is the major function of parenchyma cells.

2. The cells of parenchyma tissue remain turgid and provide rigidity or support to softer parts

3. Presence of intercellular spaces in between parenchyma cells allows movement of gases and gaseous exchange

4. Certain parenchyma cells store waste products

5. Epidermis is the specialised parenchyma present on the surface of the plant organ.

Function of arenchyma

It is the modified parenchyma found in aquatic plants. Arenchyma consists of network of parenchyma cells which enclose large air cavities store gases and provide buoyancy to aquatic plants
