There are small openings on the lower surface of the leaves. These pores are called stomata. These openings are surrounded with guard cells.

Functions of stomata:

1. It helps in the transpiration of water, i.e., the loss of excess water from the plant.

2. Loss of water from the stomata creates an upward pull, i.e., suction pull which helps in absorption of water from the roots.

3. They help in exchange of gases.
I hope this help u .

Answer :-

"Functions of Stomata:

The main function of stomata is to open and close the pores in the leaves for an exchange of gases.

It allows the plant to take in carbon dioxide and give out oxygen for photosynthesis.

Based on the weather conditions, it closes or opens its pores to keep the moisture content developed.

It helps to expel the excess water out from the leaves in the form of water vapour.

Stomata are tiny pores in the plant tissues mainly on the surface of leaves. It is also found in some stems."
