Answer 1

According to Thomas young within the elastic limit of the the stress developed in the body is directly proportional to the strain produced in it.

stress directly proportional to strain

E = stress /strain

E = modulus of elasticity

Answer 2

Sometimes due to wear and tear the screw of micrometre gets loose and in the nut and may not move forward when turned in the nut this is called backlash error . The blacklash error can be avoided by turning the screw only in one direction.

Explanation:

Hooke's law, law of elasticity discovered by the English scientist Robert Hooke in 1660, which states that, for relatively small deformations of an object, the displacement or size of the deformation is directly proportional to the deforming force or load.

Backlash error occurs in screw gauge, when we try to rotate the screw very fast to .reading, toavoid this we should rotate the screw slowly in only one direction.
