Difference in policies were to blame, although the immediate cause of World War one was the assassination of Austria's Archduke Franz Ferdinand. The war started mainly because of four aspects: Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism and Nationalism. ... Nationalist groups in Austria-Hungary and Serbia wanted independence

Immediate cause of WORLD WAR - I

The immediate cause of the World War - I was the assassination of the heir to the throne of Austria - Hungary .

The name of the heir was Archduke Francis Ferdinand and he was assassinated at Sarajevo the capital of Bosnia .

This assassination was held on the date 28th June , 1914 .

The assassination was organised by a member of the society called Black Hand or the Union of Death .

This created hatred between the nations and emerged out to be the immediate cause of the World War .

MORE INFO :

The Union Of Death was a society whose objective was to unite all Serbians to a single nation .

This was the main reason why Austria served an ultimatum on Serbia .

However most demands were not accepted .

After this , the Austrians waged a war and Germany also joined them .
