Molecular movement can help us to study the physical properties of a substance, which in turn can help us predict its chemical properties or behaviour in reactions etc.
A very common example which is usually cited is the temperature of a substance. Temperature of a gas is often defined as the representation of the total kinetic energy of all the molecules present in the gas. This definition is more or less extended to other states of matter as well.
