Sperm has x and y chromosome while the egg have x and x chromosome. The human egg doesn't contain y chromosome

(both X). Sperms contain X or Y sex chromosomes.

Thus, sperm containing X chromosome when combines

with X chromosome of egg results in a female child.

Whereas sperm containing Y chromosome when

combines with X chromosome of egg results in a male

child.
