Uses of diethyl ether;

As it is highly flammable in nature, it is highly used to start the stubborn gasoline engines.

High vapor pressure is also one of the reasons for using it in the various automobile engines.

Diethyl ether is a great solvent, so it is suitable for dissolving the nonpolar substances in large quantities.  

As it is also not miscible with the water, separations are done using the diethyl ether in the organic chemistry.
