Answer:

Chipko Andolan Movement

Chipko Andolan Movement was started in April 1973 at Reni village of Chamoli district in Uttarakhand. It was a form of non-violent protest where the villagers embraced the trees in order to prevent them being cut down. This movement gained worldwide popularity and soon inspired a number of similar movements around the world.

One of the key features of this movement was the mass female participation. It also helped the Indian society wake up to the issues of the tribal and oppressed classes.
