law of equipartition of energy : the energy associated with each degree of freedom of a gas molecule will be same.
--> intermolecular forces in an ideal gas is 0.
--> so potential energy is 0.
--> the total energy (U) is due to kinetic energy.
U = KE +PE
=KE + 0
=KE
U = 1/2 RT
specific heat at constant volume Cv = dU/ dT .
