Location - It is surrounded by waterbodies on three

sides. The Arctic Ocean lies in the North, the Atlantic Ocean in

the West and the Mediterranean Sea in the South. The Caucasus

Mountains, the Ural Mountains in the East and the Caspian Sea

in the South-east separate Europe from Asia. The Strait of

Gibraltar and Mediterranean Sea separate Europe from Africa.

Extent - Europe is located approximately between latitudes 35°N

and 73°N, placing it entirely in the Northern Hemisphere. Most of

Europe lies within the temperate zone. Its longitudinal extent is

from 25°W to 65°E.
